Are You Now or Have You ever been A Fetal Container?

Obama has nominated Dawn Johnsen for Office of Legal Counsel. Here is an excerpt from a brief she filed before the Supreme Court in 1989:
"Statutes that curtail [a woman’s] abortion choice are disturbingly suggestive of involuntary servitude, prohibited by the Thirteenth Amendment, in that forced pregnancy requires a woman to provide continuous physical service to the fetus in order to further the state’s asserted interest."

"[The woman] is constantly aware for nine months that her body is not wholly her own: the state has conscripted her body for its own ends.”

Thus, abortion restrictions “reduce pregnant women to no more than fetal containers.”

Is this the kind of thinking that most Americans support? Does this describe your emotions or beliefs about your children? Your mother? Your family? What has become of the America I thought I lived in?

When questioned before the Senate Judiciary Committee last week, Ms. Johnsen tried to dance around the fact she had argued pregnancy and motherhood were involuntary servitude although she had to admit that the above quotes were part of her brief.
