Motherhood and Apple Pie, Part Two

The feminists used to hold consciousness-raising sessions in churches and Y’s across the nation to explain to women exactly how oppressed they were. They denounced women “trapped at home changing diapers” on ungrateful children. For a while their ideas made sense as society gradually adopted a form of their attitude. But they forgot that women are “hard wired” to be mothers.

So more and more women never returned to the job from their eight-week maternity leave. Others gladly sought part time work so they could spend more time with their children. Lately, we have witnessed an explosion of young women choosing motherhood, even without a husband. And most recently, there is Nadya Suleman, defiantly choosing to have fourteen children alone.

Choosing to have children without fathers present in the home is perverse and not to be applauded, although it is far better than abortion. But it does prove that nature will not be denied. Women are happiest bearing and nurturing children, physically and/or spiritually.
