Great Insight

Please go to the A True Story of Passion, Profit, and Contribution today to read about people with special needs. For too long Americans have averted their eyes, crossed the street, or otherwise avoided less than perfect looking people. Or, if they did meet someone in a wheel chair, for instance, they talked loudly, as if the person were deaf, or talked only with the person's companion, as if the person were imbecilic. Each one of us is invaluable with contributions to make to society, if society will just allow us to share our gifts.

Nepotism Alert: The article was written by my beloved eldest child.

If My People, VIII

You, O Lord, are my lamp,
my God who lightens my darkness.
With you I can break through any barrier,
with my God I can scale any wall. Psalm 18:29,30

As we continue to pray for our country, we must not become disheartened by the events before us or the people who disparage us because the power of God is greater than any power in the world. If you race ahead to read the back of the Book, you discover that God wins.

What Americans Really Want . . .Really

Frank Luntz' new book reveals the real heart of Americans everywhere because he asks the questions no other pollsters ask. His lastest book, What Americans Really Want . . . Really, details his findings regarding the current level of fear and anger that Americans experience every day. His word to our Congressional Clowns is that their lack of accountability is or soon will be their downfall.

The books ranks #1 on Amazon in the areas of Business & Investing, Marketing & Sales, and Consumer Behavior. He also advises politicians on using influential words to support their beliefs.

But on a more personal level, he details several easy things that the average American parent can do to insure his children's success. You'll have to read the book to get all of them.
1. Eat dinner together as a family at least 5 times a week.
2. Attend religious services once a week as a family.
3. Check your children's homework at least 4 times a week.
4. Know exactly where your children are on Friday and Saturday nights and do not allow weaseling about truth in this matter.
5. Never allow your cell phone messages or texts to interrupt a conversation with your child.

If My People, VII

Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness,
In your compassion blot out my offense.
O wash me more and more from my guilt
And cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:5,6

According to Frank Luntz' new book, “What Americans Really Want ... Really,” the vast majority of Americans desire spiritual success for their children more than financial, career, intellectual, or social success. Pray today that parents would renew their committment to praying for their children and that the entertainment industry would quit working against the welfare of the family unit and instead support it in film and television.

If My People, VI

"And The Lord said to Moses, "On the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves [i.e. fast] and present an offering by fire to The Lord. And you shall do no work on this same day; for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement for you before The Lord your God. For whoever is not afflicted on this same day shall be cut off from his people. And whoever does any work on this same day, that person I will destroy from among his people. You shall do no work: it is a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. It shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict yourselves; on the ninth day of the month beginning at evening, from evening to evening shall you keep your Sabbath." (Leviticus 23:26-32 RSV

From sunset last night to sunset today, observant Jews in the US participate in the fast of the High Holy Days. We join them today as we pray that the people of our country would turn from their wicked ways and toward a G_dly life.

If My People, IV

If we say, "We are without sin," we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we acknowledge our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing." I John 1:8,9

Pray that our country will be cleansed from every wrongdoing, that justice will flourish throughout the land.

Speaking of Holocaust Deniers. . .

Are we Americans just as guilty as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Can we kill around 1,370,000 innocent babies per year and not realize that our holocaust is far worse than the six million Jews annihilated by the Nazis?

Last January on the thirty-sixth anniversary of Roe v Wade, it was estimated that 50,000,000 abortions had been performed in the US. That means that we have decided to deny the right to life to the equivalent of the populations of:
* Kentucky
* Oregon
* Oklahoma
* Connecticut
* Iowa
* Mississippi
* Arkansas
* Kansas
* Utah
* Nevada
* New Mexico
* West Virginia
* Nebraska
* Idaho
* Maine
* New Hampshire
* Hawaii
* Rhode Island
* Montana
* Delaware
* South Dakota
* Alaska
* North Dakota
* Vermont
* Wyoming
And our lives and our country are poorer because of it.

Homeland Security???

Are the anarchists listed with the other local threats to the security of the US put out by the Department of Homeland Security? As I recall, that list featured Pro-lifers, gun owners, and veterans, but I don't specifically remember any anarchy group.

The anarchists are demonstrating in Pittsburgh now. There have been arrests, businesses have boarded up their windows, and police wear riot gear, complete with personal shields. I haven't heard any numbers, but anyone can see from the pictures that the number of demonstrators is minuscule compared to the September 12 event in Washington, DC.

The Tea Party protesters, who filled the streets and side streets from the Washington Monument to the Capitol, cleaned up the after themselves, required no police outfitted with riot gear, and no arrests were made. More than a million people gathered to protest intrusive government, but there were no "incidents."

Why are these the people Homeland Security is worried about?

Finally!

There was a voice of reason in the Theatre of The Absurd, a.k.a. the UN, when Benjamin Netanyahu spoke yesterday. He asked the audience, "Have you no shame?" regarding their placid nonchalance in accepting denial of the Holocaust of six million Jews.

It's reassuring when someone finally speaks the obvious truth in a world that appears to have gone crazy but no one dares to admit it. G_d bless the Prime Minister of Israel. He gave the speech that an American leader should have given.

If My People, III

To you all flesh will come with its burden of sin. Too heavy for us, our offenses, but you wipe them away. Psalm 65:2,3
Sin disfigures and cripples us, both individually and as a group. Admitting our mistakes and asking for forgiveness gives us a chance to "be all that we can be." Pray for yourself and for your country today. Your happiness depends on it.

American Unilateral Moves Are Bad

At least that's what President Obama said yesterday at the UN as he apologized to the whole world for America's sins, real and perceived.

I'm certain the Polish and Czechoslovakian attendees agreed with him, since he had just unilaterally voided an agreement America had made with them regarding missile defense. No wonder Poland has since ordered their troops to stand down in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Unemployment at 20%?

It is according to Paul Craig Roberts: If measured according to the methodology used when I was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, the unemployment rate today in the US is above 20%. Moreover, there is no obvious way of reducing it. There are no factories, with work forces temporarily laid off by high interest rates, waiting for a lower interest rate policy to call their workforces back into production.

Read all of his article to find out why other economic measurements such as the inflation rate have become mere fictions since the 1990's.

If My People, Part II

I said, "My G_d, I am too ashamed and confounded to raise my face to you, O my G_d, for our wicked deeds are heaped up above our heads and our guilt reaches up to heaven. From the time of our fathers even to this day great has been our guilt, and for our wickd deeds we have been delivered up, we and our kings and our priests, to the will of the kings of foreign lands, to the sword, to captivity, to pillage and to disgrace, as is the case today." Ezra 9:6,7

This is the second day for us to fast and pray for our country, asking God to forgive us personally and to forgive those "who know not what they do" wrong. And we can pray for the hearts of our leaders to be enlightened by the Holy Spirit and that the plans of evil men be confounded.

We can fast or add penance to our prayers by some small sacrifice such as giving up cream in our coffee, doing without dessert, or walking an extra 20 minutes.

If My People

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14

I apologize for the light posting lately. Frankly I've been overwhelmed by the blatant hypocrisy and unconcealed corruption that I see in the USA now. I've never been so discouraged about my beloved country that for two centuries has stood as a shining light of hope to downtrodden people around the world.

There are so many stories to cover and that demand investigation that no one can take it all in, much less marshal the forces to fight them. I now believe that the battle we face is more than Tea Party Patriots can accomplish, no matter how earnest and committed they may be. America is involved in spiritual warfare for her survival and we must use spiritual weapons as well as common sense and individual acts of bravery if we are to get our country back.

Please join your fellow countrymen who are praying for an end to abortion and add your petitions to God for an end to corruption and evil wherever it may be: the federal government, state government, local governments, and in our own hearts.

40 Days for Life

This video, Signs of Evil, illustrates the attitude of some abortion providers. Today begins a period of 40 days of prayer and fasting to end the killing of innocent babies in the womb. Please join other Christians in the US to pray for a return to Christian values.

Economic Forecast

This is the last paragraph from "All I Ever Needed to Know about Economics I Learned in Genesis," that I read this morning...
"Running the printing presses day and night to churn out dollar bills is not going to revitalize the economy. At is most basic level every economy is about dealing with the “dust from the ground” of which we are made, with the rocks and soil of this planet. We aren’t like God, able to create ex nihilo; we aren’t angels who can sustain ourselves on “information.” The real stuff that makes an economy hum is fished or grown or mined. It is taking the raw materials of this earth, “by the sweat of your face,” and making it edible, wearable, or otherwise usable to some other human being that forms the basis of any economy. When we see growth there, that is when we will be back."

It reminds me of the maxim I learned in the fifties that all wealth is created by farming, fishing, mining, and manufacturing. All other industries or vocations merely served those wealth generating ones. Then in the late eighties, Everyone began to say that this was the Information Age and we no longer depended on that old maxim. At the same time, we began transforming farming into massive Agri-business enterprises that relied on government handouts and practically eliminated the family farms, began allowing other countries to fish our coastal waters without protest, began denigrating mining as environmentally harmful, and began shipping our manufacturing overseas. Those Everyones ignored the fact that computers and information technology was a form of manufacturing although they quickly began shipping all those related services overseas also.

We were lulled into thinking that because bankers and investment advisors were wealthy themselves, that they were creating wealth for our country's economy. Then last September, as it collapsed, that empire showed itself to be a mere house of cards as our personal wealth collapsed with it.

I pray that we have the will to rebuild the US economic base.

It’s A Lot More Than Just Bias (Updated)

The way that the mass media and the Obama administration have handled these recent ACORN videotapes reveals much more than mere hypocrisy. Suddenly we see people who care NOTHING about the white slave trade, prostitution, tax evasion, or dishonest loan applications. It’s bad enough to know that ACORN doesn’t care, but to realize that neither the administration nor the mass media care is truly chilling.

At first, most news outlets ignored the tapes even after the US Census broke off ties with ACORN. That alone should have been a bombshell story calling for even more investigation and more stories about its impact. But, only those who watch FOX News, listen to Glenn Beck, or get their information from the Internet even knew about it. When questioned a few days later, Charles Gibson, head of ABC News claimed to know nothing about the scandal despite the fact that he is the head of the News Department and it’s his business to know what’s going on, not to mention that one of his reporters, Jake Tapper, had posted a story about it on his blog.

After that gaffe, stories began to appear on television and print, but the emphasis repeatedly was about Republicans trying to persecute ACORN.

It terrifies any just/compassionate/sane person to think that our “news” media see things only in terms of political fights and they’re only going to pay attention when it helps “their” side. (Read Media Malpractice for additional instances.) Have they no compassion about the possibility of young girls being used as sex slaves? Does the fact that an organization that receives federal money, i.e., from our pocketbooks, encourages clients to avoid taxes and shows them how to do it? Is no one investigating if such things have really happened in the past, instead of just during a sting operation with undercover video? Are we going to just sit there and wink at gross corruption in our system?

And let’s not even consider Congress investigating ACORN. Far too many of them owe ACORN favors, beside the fact that such investigations seldom accomplish anything worthwhile.

Addendum: ACORN has decided to call for an "independent" investigation of itself. That sounds so contrite until you look at the people who will conduct the investigation such as John Podesta, Center for American Progress (the group that just hired Van Jones, the self avowed Communist who had been a czar) and Andrew Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union. Besides, no investigation is independent when the organization gets to name its preferred investigators.

Also, someone needs to do a lot of investigation of all of Obama's ties with ACORN before too many papers are shredded and too many speeches removed from the Internet. Where are true patriots who can and will do this job for our country?

Please Remind The Congressional Clowns

Today is Constitution Day, the two hundred and twenty second anniversary of the signing of our Constitution. It is the oldest and most venerated Constitution in the world. William Gladstone, then Prime Minister of England, pronounced it "the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man."

The Congressional Clowns who have ignored it or claim that it "grows" with the passing years, do so at their peril -- and at ours. Whatever the changing mores, fashions, and technologies in our country, this Constitution deals with human nature which does not change. It is worthy of respect.

There is nothing in the Constitution that would justify the federal government taking over banks, automobile companies, choices of light bulbs, the health care industry, insurance companies, or instituting a cap and trade system, among other things. Our freedom and way of life will perish if we do not return to the Constitution.

Delicious Irony

The Baltimore attorney who has repeatedly threatened to sue the young people who made the videos, the Big Government web site that assisted, and Fox News that aired the videos will be singing a different tune. It seems that ACORN can not legally operate in the state of Maryland, so everything they've been doing is illegal. So they are liable to prosecution themselves.

More ACORN Irony

ACORN is registered with the IRS as a 501-3c charity, therefore, they are supposed to lose that status if they engage in or encourage others to engage in any illegal activity. Read more about it at Sweetness and Light.

Hmmmmmm. How many times and in how many states have they been prosecuted for voter fraud or fraudulent registration before the recent string of videos revealing criminal offenses by officers?

On the other hand, at least some Republicans are demanding that the IRS sever ties with ACORN and quit allowing them to assist clients with their taxes. After watching the videos that have been released thus far, citizens can't help but wonder whether they helped them fill out the forms correctly or helped them evade taxes.

Your Homework Assignment

1. To get a fresh understanding of the dangers of current health care proposals, read Thomas Sowell's article at Townhall. Fables for Adults by out favorite economist/philosopher illustrates the folly of Obamacare.

2. To get some idea of the public relations work the US media has performed for liberal causes during the last 60 years, read Media Malpractice: Tom Brokaw's World Implodes in The American Spectator. From Barry Goldwater to John Edwards to ACORN, it reveals the depth of the deception and misinformation the mass media has inflicted on unknowing Americans. In the fifties and sixties, only those few who read National Review knew what was really happening, but now the Internet and talk radio daily bring more truth to light, effectively curtailing their influence.

3. To get a new understanding of the big picture, read about George Soros' nefarious role in our national decline. He prefers to stay in the background, but his power is global. Changing the US is his crowning achievement.

Can You Hear Us Now?

This sign was seen on State highway 15-501 at the Lamm's Grove intersection near Durham, NC.

None of us know what the current administration and the Congressional Clowns learned from the 9-12 protests in Washington, DC and in hometown rallies all across the land.
But the basic message was:
1. Get rid of the corruption in the White House, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and all organizations feeding at the public trough like ACORN
2. Don't spend another dime
3. Read and understand the bills before voting on them
4. No sweeping health care bills -- We only need to sweep up the trash, not burn the house down and rebuild

It's not Republican versus Democrat; it's American Patriots versus those who merely want to manipulate the system for their own advantage. The patriots outnumber the users, but the manipulators currently hold the levers of power.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are inalienable rights given to us by God. We must not let them slip through our fingers.

Protest Picture from Atlanta

This picture, courtesy of Nick O'Connor, was taken at a demonstration in an Atlanta suburb. It graphically portrays the intentions of some of the people crafting the healthcare reform bill who are more concerned about saving money than saving lives.

For example, a grandmother in my ocular melanoma support group discovered the eye cancer when she was 45. At age 67, metastasis showed up in her liver and later in her peritoneum. Since then she has had surgery, chemo, and immuno-emobilizations. Now at 73, she wrote,
"Just so you know, I have been fighting this thing for 6 1/2 years, after mets to my liver. I feel fine, lead a full life, enjoy everything, etc. The fighting part has not been a picnic, but it has not been that bad either."
Does some bureaucrat sitting at a desk in DC have the right to say those years were not worth the battle? That this woman did not contribute to medical science discoveries, to her family, to society at large? Do we really want to substitute the "wisdom" of government employees for God?

Listen to The Silence

The silence of the mass media about the murder of a prolife activist in Michigan is a dramatic contrast to the keening over the murder of Dr. Tiller, an abortionist. As of today there have been 19 stories about James Pouillion who was shot as he stood in front of a high school holding a pro life sign, while there were at least 643 different stories about Tiller in the mass media.

When Tiller was killed, every Pro Life organization leader in the United States, Catholic Bishops, and Protestant pastors immediately condemned the murder and offered prayers for Tiller and his family. So far, I have heard of no one who has condemned Pouillion's killer.

Neither have there been blanket accusations about all abortion supporters being budding terrorists. However all prolife supporters are still on the Homeland Security Watch list for terrorism. And no one has called for a ban on private ownership of guns because Pouillion was murdered with a gun.

No wonder most mass media outlets are going broke. They have become public relations offices, not news organizations.

News about US from Australia Via Costa Rica

An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week, which I quote:

"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theatre of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers per month.

The firearm death rate in Washington , DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 percent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US , than you are in Iraq"

Conclusion: "The US should pull out of Washington "

Thanks to TIGblogs for this information.

Watch The Whole DC Tea Party Here

C-Span has provided a 2 hour and 50 minute video of the DC March for the web. They will also broadcast it again Monday evening at 8 pm.

Count The Crowd for Your Self

These time lapse crowd shots show the mass of people who paid their own way to go to Washington to express their beliefs. Too bad Obama and most Democrat Clowns got the h**l out of Dodge before they arrived.

Maryland Will Prosecute Whistle Blowers?

By now, practically everyone has seen or heard about the videos of the young people posing as a pimp and a prostitute at an ACORN office. During the interview, they were given advice on how to skirt detection in their lawless endeavors which included running a bordello with under-age girls from San Salvador. After airing on Fox News and the Internet, ACORN hastily fired the two advisers.

But you may not have heard that Baltimore City's State Attorney may use Maryland's wiretap laws to prosecute the two who made the video and brought it to Glenn Beck. Not surprisingly, the prosecutor, Patricia Jessamy, used to work for ACORN and has defended them publicly in the past. Also, it was Maryland state attorneys who charged Linda Tripp of illegal wiretapping in the Lewinsky/Clinton affair. Go to Sweetness and Light to get a more complete story.

Video from DC Protest

Some newspapers have estimated the crowd there today as "tens of thousands," but the DC park police guessed at least 1,200,000 or 120 of those tens of thousands. ABC (gasp!) said the crowd numbered about 2,000,000. Here's a video of a few scenes from today by FrankStrategies.com. a communication company website.

Tea Party Theme Song

Watch and listen to this great video about "taking our country back" by Lloyd Marcus. You will be inspired.

Ca$h for Clunkers

According to the Council of Economic Advisors, the Cash for Clunkers program cost the American taxpayer $8,700 for each additional automobile sale. By analyzing car sales, they concluded that only an additional 330,000 cars were sold than would have been expected without the program, hardly a bonanza for either the economy or the auto dealers who filled out reams of paperwork for the priviledge of waiting for the government to make good on its promises. For a more detailed analysis, read Donald Marron.

The Line in The Sand

The simple way to cut through the fog of deception that passes for public discourse is to insist that our Congressional Clowns pass a health care bill that applies to all citizens of the United States. Any bill that exempts them but applies to the rest of country is a form of tyranny. Don't let your Congressional Clown get away with it.

What Is The Rush?

Obama intended to ram his plans for our health care through by the end of July and he certainly expects to do it before the end of the year. Yet, none of it takes effect until 2013 -- the year he plans to be inaugurated for his second term of office.

Could it be that he knows how bad the bill is? Is this a way of disguising his lies about it until after the November elections of 2012? Does he understand that few will vote for him of their own free will AFTER living under his health care for just a year or two? Do his actions display the kind of moral courage that we need in the person who leads our country?

The Wrong Person Apologized

As far as I am concerned, Joe Wilson's involuntary outburst at just one of the blatant lies Obama told last night is perfectly understandable. Obama himself needs to apologize to all the citizens and Congressional clowns who heard his speech last night. No one should lie, least of all the president.

Folks, nothing has changed. The whole health care push is about increasing power of the government over the people, not about helping us achieve more health care at a cheaper price.

If you would like to read a thorough analysis of the speech, go to John Hinderaker's column at PowerLine.

Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less

There are only 11 days left to tell the Minerals Management Service what you believe about using the resources that we already have. This agency within the Department of the Interior, chooses when and where we can drill for American energy through a public process called "Notice and Comment." They will decide whether we can drill offshore during the years 2010-2015. It will be five years before they consider drilling again.

Using our own resources will:
1. Create millions of new high-paying American jobs
2. Promote economic security with independence from OPEC
3. Decrease gasoline, heating oil, and natural gas prices
4. Reduce the environmental impact of natural oil seeps
5. Develop oil reserves that are over three times larger than Saudi Arabia’s reserves
6. Reduce federal, state, and local budget deficits
7. Reduce risk of environmental damage from foreign tanker spills
8. Stop financing Hugo Chavez and Saudi Kings
9. Fund environmental preservation efforts with increased drilling royalties
10. Finance research and development in alternative energy

The deadline for submitting comments is September 21. Go to YourEnergyOpinion
and make sure we can drill during the next five years.

The Government Can

Enjoy Time Hawkins satirical music rendition about the every expanding government we all face. It's truth sugar coated with comedy. For more satire, go to www.timhawkins.net.

Who Is Dumb and Uneducated?

Apparently the current group of Progressives/Liberals/Democrats who are running our country have learned nothing from the history of the last 100 years, such as the fact that increased government control over citizen’s lives always leads to destruction of both the governed and the governors.

Lenin, Stalin, and Trotsky appeared to have a compassionate desire to help the Russian peasants in the early Twentieth Century. They were dismayed when the peasants refused their help in destroying the rulers and the institutions that had “oppressed” them. So they killed dissidents to help the people. The final count of deaths by Communist regimes according to Wikipedia is around:
• 65 million in the People's Republic of China
• 20 million in the Soviet Union[3]
• 2 million in Cambodia
• 2 million in North Korea
• 1.7 million in Africa
• 1.5 million in Afghanistan
• 1 million in the Communist states of Eastern Europe
• 1 million in Vietnam[4]
• 150,000 in Latin America
• 10,000 deaths "resulting from actions of the international communist movement and communist parties not in power."

During the last 100 years, none of these countries has become wealthy or made innovative scientific discoveries. They have contributed little to world except fear, poverty, and repression.

Germany and Italy developed their national socialistic parties later. In Nazi Germany, the death toll for Jews is always listed as 6,000,000, but many other deaths of Catholics, homosexuals, gypsies, and resistors also came as a result of this oppressive government.

In Europe, many Western countries adopted various forms of socialism or increased government control of various elements of society, especially since the end of World War II. Yet, in the last ten years, each one of those countries have begun moving away from government control and toward increased freedom. They’ve “been there and done that” and they don’t particularly like it. Almost every day, new complaints emerge from these countries regarding the poor quality of health care.

In contrast, the Twentieth Century was frequently called The American Century because we have led the world in innovative solutions to age old problems, new business ventures, medical advances, and increased personal wealth.

In spite of our freedoms and the success they have allowed, the US government has instituted or taken over the Post Office, Social Security, Veterans Hospitals, Medicare, Medicaid, a War on Poverty, a portion of the banking industry, and most of the automobile industry. Each institution or takeover by the federal government has necessarily increased its power over individual citizens, for our own good, of course. None of these enterprises has done well despite good intentions and lavish infusions of taxpayer money. In fact, they are all deeply in debt and there is probably no way, they can make good their promises, even if we’re all taxed at 100% of our income. The nation is so far in debt that no one will even buy our treasury bonds, so the feds are just printing more money. At the rate we’re going now, we’ll be a banana republic in no time flat.

And yet the Progressives/Liberals/Democrats now insist that the federal government NEEDS to take over our health care. Somehow, they think that this time it will be different. Somehow, when THESE people run our lives, they’ll do it better than the Russians, Chinese, Europeans, and all of the other despots throughout human history.
I hope that true patriots will work to nullify their efforts and keep us a free country. We must return to Constitutional government if we are to retain our way of life.

False Choices

There are two fallacies in the debate over proposals currently on the table about health care reform. These fallacies keep the public from debating or even understanding the issues involved. For a republic to work, the voters need to be involved and educated, not just involved at high decibel rates.

1. The major problem with current discussions is that reform is proposed as an all or nothing deal, i.e., either adopt the administration approved changes or nothing.

2. The second problem is related in that people tend to see health care in sentimental terms like "we have to do this if we care for people, especially poor people and anyone who opposed must prefer rich doctors or evil insurance companies to my poor neighbor."

There are many ways to change our health care system without going the route of involving the government more than it is already. The government has run the Post Office, Social Security, and Medicare long enough to prove to all observers that it doesn't run things well. Not only have they created untold headaches because of the bureaucratic mazes they devise for unwary citizens, they're all going broke. Our health care is way too important to give them any more control over it. Let's look at all the possibilities of reform that target specific issues, not just give up and hand it over to Washington.

Although proponents of the Democrat version of health care reform pose as great humanitarians, they really do not have the welfare of the citizens foremost in their minds when voting of health care reform. If they were truly improving anything, they'd make certain that they were included in the program and not have one layer of benefits for Congressional Clowns and another layer for the rest of us. Any reform that is passed and signed into law must apply equally to all citizens! Anything less is tyranny.

"When you break the big laws, you do not get freedom; you do not even get anarchy. You get the small laws."

And in today's America there are so many small laws that we all engage in criminal activity without even knowing it. As big government grows ever bigger, citizens are burdened with new little laws each time the President signs a bill. The Congressional Clowns may pass a 1,000+ page bill, but when the bureaucrats finish writing up the regulations, it grows much longer, becomes much more complex, and gains innumerable unintended consequences.

Little laws make everyone think first of our tax law that is so Byzantine even the IRS does not understand it, or in Geithner's case, follow it. If you were to call the nearest IRS office to ask a specific question about a specific tax situation, then follow the IRS advice on that same tax situation, you still could be considered guilty if audited by IRS personnel who disagreed with the IRS person who gave you the advice. Not only is the tax code tens of thousands of pages long already, but more pages of regulations are added each year.

Sales tax regulations sound easy, but twenty states follow recommendations of the Steamlined Sales Tax Project or SSTP. The SSTP is currently considering taxing Wheaties, Cheerios, Lucky Charms, and Rice Crispies as candy, although Cookie Crunch will remain a cereal. Their definition of candy is a substance with sugar in it, but no flour. Wheaties, for example, contains wheat flakes, not flour. According to a comment on American's for Tax Reform article about SSTP, Kellogg's Raisin Bran is considered candy, but Post Raisin Bran is a cereal. Candies, in case you were wondering, can be taxed at higher rates than foods in many states with sales taxes.

Since the regulations of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act were approved this spring, federal agents now have the authority to raid Saturday morning garage sales and jail the offending homeowner in a campaign called Resale Roundup. In addition to the draconian rules about plastic and lead products, the new law makes it a crime to resell any item that has been recalled by its manufacturer. Since hundreds of products might be recalled each year, for various reasons, it's impossible for homeowners to keep up with all of them. As a result, many resale shops have been forced out of business, numerous books taken off library shelves, and the hosts at garage sales face the possibility of jail. However, the really bad news is that Obama has asked for a 11.4% increase in CPSI funding, so more inspectors can be hired next year. Then they can do more raids on yard sales, Craig's List, and Ebay.

And, this round up of stupidity only hints at the growing government intrusion into our private lives.

Obviously, God is not a bureaucrat. He only has ten laws for a peaceful society. And they are so simple a ten year-old can easily memorize them.

Extended Labor Day Holiday

Well, lots of parents are considering it an extended holiday now that Obama announced his plans to speak to all public school attendees September 8. I hear that many people are expecting their children to be sick that day after all the revelry over unions in the US or else they'll have trouble getting back into town from the holiday trip. Too bad The Won's captive audience may be smaller than expected.

If you wonder what all the hoopla is about, read Michelle's Malkin's column today. Even though this speech may be innocuous, there is real reason for concern, especially if this administration believes that this first foray into indoctrination of children is successful.

Yet Another Petition for You

Here is another opportunity to make use of your *First Amendment right to "petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Go to Your Energy Opinion to sign a letter to an agency within the Department of Energy. This agency, Minerals Management Services, will accept public comments until September 21, then they will decide when, where, and if we can drill for American oil between 2010 and 2015. This decision will be our last chance to use our own natural resources until 2015. Otherwise, we will continue to be held captive by despotic regimes of other oil producing countries and unproven pie-in-the-sky schemes of so called "green" energy companies.

Once you've signed the letter, please forward this information to everyone who shares your views about the folly of ignoring our own resources and ask them to sign also. If we can flood the system with protests, maybe we can have some effect on their decision. Who knows what could happen to the price of oil between now and 2015?

*Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Good Citizen Alert on The CIA

You no doubt have heard that former vice president Dick Cheney has spoken forcefully about the political machinations behind the new, third investigation of the CIA which Eric Holder just announced. The DOJ seems to be determined to make criminals out of those people who followed orders from their superiors, to make criminals out of the lawyers who studied case law to determine what would be legal, and most important, to make criminals out of the superiors, members of the Bush administration. Other national security analysts, as well as those who still have common sense, agree with his assessment of its dangerous veniality.

To show your support of those targets of the witch hunt and your disgust with a Department of Justice that criminalizes defenders of America while exonerating Black Panthers who openly intimidated voters, please sign the petition, I Will Not Convict. It states the if you are on a jury at a trial for members of the CIA, you will refuse to convict. Perhaps if enough people sign it, we can limit the scope of the CIA investigation. It's time for us to at least rain on their parade.

PS: Also please sign the Free Our Health Care Now petition if you haven't done so already. They now have 1,185,993 signatures. Help make it the biggest petition ever before they deliver it to all Congressional Clowns on September 9.
