Lincoln and Obama

In honor of Lincoln's 200th birthday, we turn to one of his quotes;
“If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend six hours sharpening my ax”

It is too bad that Obama has not followed his hero's advice since assuming presidency. Executive orders, legislation, and public statements give the impression that he is more interested in acting quickly than in deliberating on the best course of action.

For example, take his suspension of military tribunals for terrorism suspects. According to families of American victims, he revealed his lack of understanding of the consequences last Friday when he met with them. Read more here.

Then there is the one thousand or so page "Stimulus" Bill that he demanded be passed immediately whether or not anyone has read the whole thing, much less debated it. It gives me a bad case of the Lincoln era "vapors" just to think about it.
